One large hippo rises up, opens his huge pink jaws and bellows out. The whole herd of buffalo stampede past us in a cloud of dust, their thundering hooves breaking the silence of the African night.
Elephants of the Chobe
Further along the river, a small herd of elephant are drinking and bathing, the playful calves nudging up against their mothers legs. They seem unperturbed by our presence and one 20-year old male wanders right up to two metres from the vehicle.
